According to the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus said that he had not come to abolish the law but to fulfil it. A Calvinist will find that much easier to grasp than a Lutheran—though it would be interesting to hear an ‘old perspective’ expositor explain how Jesus’ brisk commands in
